The mountain's fire tower serves as a central observation point for the New Hampshire Division of Forest and Lands, monitoring forest conditions from April to November.
Visitors can access multiple hiking trails leading to the summit, where both a fire tower and a 180-foot communications tower provide regional coverage.
The mountain forms part of the White Mountain Magma Series, containing geological formations from volcanic activity during the Jurassic period.
