Built in 1909 following Benjamin Church's will stipulations, the house initially provided housing for elderly men before accepting women in 1934.
The Benjamin Church Senior Center, established in 1972, continues the building's tradition of community service through programs for older residents.
Located at 1014 Hope Street, the house measures 18 by 30 feet and contains large reception rooms organized around a central hall.
The building includes specific architectural elements such as dormers on the hipped roof and a semi-elliptical fanlight above the central entrance.
