Benjamin Flagg House

The Benjamin Flagg House is a residential building with two and a half stories, wood frame construction, three-bay facade, side-gable roof, and a large central chimney. It features traditional clapboard siding and a four-light transom window above the front entrance.

The house was built in 1717 and later served as the home of Captain Benjamin Flagg. He commanded a militia company during the American Revolutionary War beginning in 1775.

The structure represents early 18th-century New England residential architecture, with features including a four-light transom window and traditional clapboard siding.

The house is located at 136 Plantation Street on a triangular lot on Worcester's east side. It sits between Plantation Street and Ingleside Avenue, making it straightforward to find.

This is the oldest surviving building in Worcester and has remained at its original location since construction. Its survival for nearly three centuries makes it a rare witness to the city's early years.
