Bellevue State Park

Bellevue State Park is a 340-acre nature area with extensive woodlands, gardens, and meadows located near Wilmington. A network of trails connects different sections and provides routes for walking and outdoor recreation.

The land began as the private estate of the du Pont family and became a state park in 1976. The historic Bellevue Hall building still stands on the grounds as a reminder of this transformation.

The bandshell hosts regular music performances and seasonal celebrations that bring neighbors together around shared interests in outdoor gatherings. These events show how the community actively uses and values this space today.

The park has several facilities including a fitness track, playground, tennis courts, and stables for visitors to use. Paved pathways make it easy for people of different abilities to move around the grounds.

The grounds contain an arboretum with more than 50 tree species and a catch-and-release fishing pond surrounded by a dedicated fitness track. This combination of nature study and recreation is an unusual feature for a local green space.
