Arthur Gillette founded the park in 1958 as a family-oriented Western-themed attraction in the Catskill area. The property changed ownership in 1979 when new management took over operations.
The Indian Village section displayed Native American traditions through teepees and dance performances by the Big Mountain family during special events.
The park was located on Route 32 in Catskill and designed for children to immerse themselves in Western activities. Comfortable shoes were useful for exploring the grounds, and visitors typically spent several hours experiencing the various rides and performances.
During staged train robberies, actors would conduct mock heists, asking young passengers to surrender their candy and bubble gum as pretend loot.
