Cape May Lighthouse

The Cape May Lighthouse is a lighthouse structure on the New Jersey coast with a red cupola and brick walls visible from long distances. The building provides access to an observation platform where visitors can survey the surrounding coastal landscape.

The current structure was built in 1859 and replaced two earlier towers that were destroyed by coastal erosion. This new construction was designed to permanently warn ships away from this dangerous shoreline.
