Central Catholic High School, Catholic high school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Central Catholic High School is a boys high school built in the Art Nouveau style in the 1920s and stands prominently on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh. The campus includes the main building with flowing lines and decorative details, alongside sports fields, a gymnasium, a dedicated science and technology building, and a residence for the Christian Brothers who run the school.

The school was founded in 1927 when Bishop Hugh Charles Boyle invited the Christian Brothers to open a school specifically for boys in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. Since its start, it has grown from serving students in central Pittsburgh to drawing pupils from throughout the region and beyond.

The school brings together students from different neighborhoods across the region and shapes daily life through sports events, theater performances, and religious services. Walking through campus, you experience a community where faith and academic achievement are equally valued.

The school sits in the heart of the city on Fifth Avenue, making it easy to reach by public transportation. Plan your visit around the school calendar, as many activities like sports matches and theater performances take place during daytime or evening hours.

The school's rowing team won a national competition, prompting the city of Pittsburgh to declare a special 'Crew Day' in their honor. This moment reflects how student achievement beyond the classroom reaches the wider community.
