City Opera House

The City Opera House is a three-story red brick structure located on Front Street that combines retail spaces on the ground floor with performance areas above. The venue holds 710 seats and features modern theater equipment for concerts, plays, and events.

The building was constructed in 1891 and became the first structure in Traverse City to use electric lighting, marking an important technological advance. It gained National Historic Register designation in 1972, recognizing its significance to the community.
