The marble obelisk stands 25 feet tall with a Confederate flag at its peak and rests on a limestone base in Battle Grove Cemetery.
Built in 1869, this monument marks the first Confederate memorial in Kentucky and remains at its original location where the second Battle of Cynthiana occurred.
The monument features inscriptions from 'Bivouac of the Dead' and serves as a central point for 47 Confederate veteran graves arranged in a circle.
The memorial stands at coordinates 38.394794 latitude and -84.280792 longitude, registered in the National Register of Historic Places since July 1997.
The Muldoon Monument Company from Louisville created this structure, which influenced the design of subsequent memorials throughout the Bluegrass region.
