Coronet, Museum ship in Newport, United States
The schooner Coronet measures 131 feet in length and stands as one of the largest surviving wooden-hull sailing yachts from the 19th century.
In 1887, the Coronet won a notable transatlantic race against the yacht Dauntless, covering 3,000 miles and earning a $10,000 prize.
Oil tycoon Rufus T. Bush commissioned the vessel from C. & R. Poillon shipyard in Brooklyn, marking the high standards of American shipbuilding.
Visitors can view the Coronet at Mystic Seaport Museum from 10 AM to 4 PM daily as it undergoes a three-year restoration project.
The Coronet became the first registered yacht to navigate Cape Horn from east to west during its global circumnavigation in 1888.
