Cummins Corporate Office Building, Modern office building in Columbus, United States
The Cummins Corporate Office Building is a modern office structure in Columbus with octagonal concrete columns, narrow windows, and a zigzag layout spanning multiple downtown blocks. The single-story structure with a mezzanine level provides open office areas and numerous meeting spaces for employee collaboration.
The headquarters was completed in 1983 and transformed a former rail yard into a corporate center. The original Cerealine Building was preserved and now serves as an employee cafeteria.
The building reflects the city's commitment to architectural innovation through the partnership between architect Kevin Roche and local industrial leaders. Visitors notice how the office structure integrates its contemporary design with the surrounding urban fabric.
The building is located at the intersection of Fifth and Jackson Streets and is easily accessible. Visitors should note that access to certain areas may be restricted and it can be helpful to explore the structure and its features from the exterior.
The building integrates with a park designed by Jack Curtis featuring 99 Honey Locust trees. This landscape design received national recognition and distinguishes the site from typical office environments.
