De Veaux Woods State Park, State park in Niagara Falls, United States.
De Veaux Woods State Park is a nature area near Niagara Falls with old trees, open fields for sports, playgrounds, and walking paths through the woods. The park spreads across about 51 acres of mixed landscape where visitors find both shaded forest sections and open recreational spaces.
The land was once home to an orphanage founded in 1853 that cared for children in need. In 2001 the state of New York took over the property and transformed it into a public park for everyone.
The forest here shows plant species and ecosystems that existed before European settlement arrived in this region. Visitors can observe how this natural space has been preserved and how its vegetation tells the story of the area over time.
The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset with no admission fee. Restroom facilities are available from mid-April through late October, so plan your visit based on the season and your needs.
Some trees in this park are more than 300 years old and represent some of the oldest living things in the region. These ancient trees act like a natural record of how the environment has changed over centuries.
