Dragon was a steel roller coaster at Adventureland Park in Altoona featuring a 2,100-foot track with multiple twists and sharp turns. The ride reached speeds of 45 miles per hour (72 kilometers per hour) and delivered an active, fast-paced experience from start to finish.
The ride opened in 1990 and operated for 31 years at Adventureland Park until its closure in 2021. It was replaced by Dragon Slayer, a modern 4D free spin coaster that offered a completely different type of experience.
This roller coaster marked an era of traditional steel coaster design at Adventureland Park, contributing to Iowa's entertainment development.
Riders needed to meet a minimum height requirement of about 48 inches (122 centimeters) to board the ride. The attraction operated seasonally from May through October, so visiting during the warmer months was necessary to experience it.
