Drexel and Company Building

The Drexel and Company Building is a six-story office structure in Renaissance Palazzo style located on South 15th Street in Rittenhouse Square East. Its facades feature cut granite, carved heraldic shields, wrought iron lamps, and decorative zodiac medallions framing the main entrance.

Construction took place between 1925 and 1927 under the direction of architects Day & Klauder, with builder Doyle & Co. The structure served as the main office for Drexel and Company during the banking era of that decade before the firm eventually relocated.

The Renaissance Palazzo design reflects how financial institutions shaped Philadelphia's urban landscape in the early 20th century. The ornate stonework and decorative details conveyed prosperity and trustworthiness to the banking clientele.

The structure stands at the corner of South 15th Street near Rittenhouse Square in downtown Philadelphia with good public transit connections. Parking is limited in this dense urban neighborhood, so walking or using mass transit is the practical choice for most visitors.
