Centre Square, Office skyscraper in Center City, Philadelphia, United States
Centre Square is a pair of office towers located at the intersection of Market Street and 15th Street in downtown Philadelphia. The buildings feature concrete and glass facades that rise prominently above surrounding structures, housing commercial office space across numerous floors.
The architectural firm KlingStubbins designed and completed this project in 1973 as part of major downtown redevelopment efforts. The towers emerged during a period when Philadelphia was modernizing its business core and attracting corporate offices.
The building complex represents the architectural transformation of Philadelphia's business district, reflecting the modernist commercial design principles of the 1970s.
The complex connects directly to Philadelphia's public transit system through underground passages, giving visitors easy access to trains and buses. The towers sit in a central location that is walkable and surrounded by nearby shops and dining options.
An underground transit station is built directly into the building's structure, allowing people to move between shopping areas and public transportation without going outside. This integrated approach was an innovative solution for streamlining daily commuting when it was designed.
