Douglaston Park, Urban park in Douglaston, Queens, US
Douglaston Park is a public 18-hole golf course in the Douglaston neighborhood of eastern Queens, New York. The layout follows rolling hills covered with mature trees, and the fairways run through natural terrain that includes several water features.
The course opened in 1927, as the city began converting former private estates in outer Queens into public recreational land. The clubhouse built at that time is now a New York City landmark.
The Spanish Colonial Revival clubhouse gives the grounds a character rarely seen on a public course, with its red-tiled roof and arched doorways. The course is city-owned, which means it draws a wide mix of players from across Queens rather than a private membership.
The course has multiple tee options that make it playable for beginners and experienced golfers alike. Booking in advance is strongly recommended, especially on weekends and during the warmer months when demand is high.
The land belonged to the Douglas family, after whom the entire Douglaston neighborhood takes its name, so the course sits on ground with a direct tie to local history. On clear days, views of Little Neck Bay open up from the higher parts of the course.
