Manhasset Viaduct, Railway bridge in Nassau County, United States
The Manhasset Viaduct spans 679 feet across Manhasset Bay, connecting the Village of Thomaston with the Hamlet of Manhasset on Long Island.
Steel construction by King Bridge Company and Carnegie Steel Company in 1898 marked a major expansion of the Long Island Rail Road toward Port Washington.
The structure represents the engineering capabilities of late 19th-century American railroad construction and the industrial growth of Long Island transportation.
The viaduct carries the Port Washington Branch of the Long Island Rail Road, intersecting East Shore Road on its western end and Bayview Avenue eastward.
At 81 feet above water level, this steel stringer bridge stands as the highest point on the entire Long Island Rail Road network.
