Eagle's Nest, National Register historic building in Phoenix, Baltimore County, Maryland
The Eagle's Nest features a large fieldstone structure with a two-and-a-half-story Georgian section connected to two long one-and-a-half-story wings.
In 1684, Lord Baltimore granted 2500 acres named The Valley of Jehosaphat to Richard Smith Jr, Maryland's first attorney general, where Eagle's Nest was built.
The property includes multiple original structures from the period, such as a smokehouse, icehouse, springhouse, and a root cellar that reflect colonial lifestyle.
The Eagle's Nest stands at coordinates 39.4708, -76.5756, and received its National Register of Historic Places designation on July 25, 1974.
The Marsh family, who acquired the property through a sheriff's sale, managed the estate without slaves, focusing on crop and livestock operations.
