Goucher College is a liberal arts institution set on a wooded campus of roughly 287 acres (116 ha) just north of Baltimore. The grounds include classrooms and labs, student housing, a library, and several athletic complexes with a stadium and sports center.
The college was founded in 1885 as a women's institution in downtown Baltimore and moved to Towson in 1953. It began admitting students of all genders in 1986, becoming coeducational.
The college maintains the Goucher Prison Education Partnership, providing incarcerated individuals opportunities to earn college credits and degrees through private grants and donations.

All students must spend one semester studying abroad, included in regular tuition fees. This requirement applies to every undergraduate degree without extra cost.
