Towson, Administrative center in Baltimore County, Maryland, US

Towson is the administrative center of Baltimore County in Maryland, situated north of Baltimore. The area includes several residential neighborhoods such as Anneslie, Idlewylde, and Loch Raven Village, connected by main roads and smaller streets that weave through suburban housing and local businesses.

The settlement began in 1752 when brothers William and Thomas Towson established a farming community. Over time, the area developed into what was long known as Towsontown.

Towson University, established in 1866 as Maryland State Normal School, now serves over 20,000 students and shapes the educational landscape of the region.

Towson Town Center offers a range of shops and restaurants, often with extended hours during holiday seasons. Access is straightforward via major roads, making arrival by car or public transit fairly easy.

Hampton Mansion, completed in 1790 by Captain Charles Ridgely, held the title of the largest private residence in America at the time. The estate showcases the architecture and lifestyle of wealthy families in the late 18th century.
