Edgar Evins State Park, Nature reserve on Center Hill Lake, Tennessee.
Edgar Evins State Park is a nature reserve covering about 6,300 acres (2,550 hectares) of forest along the northern shore of Center Hill Lake in Tennessee. The park offers hiking trails, camping areas, a marina with numerous slips, and boat launch facilities for water recreation.
The park was established in 1975, named after a businessman and state legislator who championed the Center Hill Dam project during the 1940s. That dam construction transformed the area and made it suitable for recreation.
The shores around the lake show signs of ancient habitation through archaeological discoveries in the area. These findings reveal that people have lived and gathered in this region for many centuries.
The park serves both water enthusiasts with its marina and boat launches, and hikers with trails of varying difficulty. Overnight stays are available in rental cabins or at camping areas, allowing visitors to spend multiple days exploring.
The park sits where two distinct geological regions meet, creating a landscape of rolling hills with distinctive raised formations called knobs. This geological setting has shaped the terrain for millions of years.
