The First Baptist Church building displays Late Gothic Revival elements with a brick structure and a front facade added during the 1950s renovations.
Constructed in 1907 as an African-American Baptist church, the building received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in January 2009.
The church maintained regular Sunday School sessions, worship services, and Wednesday Bible studies, fostering religious education within the High Point community.
The building stood at 701 East Washington Drive in High Point until September 2015, when demolition occurred after preservation attempts proved unsuccessful.
The structure occupied less than one acre of land and received the National Register of Historic Places reference number 08001289 during its designation period.
