The First Baptist Church was a brick building featuring Late Gothic Revival architectural elements. Its front facade was redesigned during renovation work in the 1950s.
The building was founded in 1907 as an African-American Baptist congregation in High Point. It gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.
The church served as a gathering place where the African-American community came together for worship and study. It held deep meaning as a spiritual and social center for local residents.
The building was originally located on East Washington Drive in High Point. The site is no longer standing, as demolition took place in 2015.
The building was documented in the National Register with a specific reference number assigned to it. Despite its historical importance to the local community, preservation efforts ultimately could not prevent its demolition.
