Church of St. Constantine and Helena

The Church of St. Constantine and Helena is an Eastern Orthodox place of worship built with wood and featuring a bell tower that rises significantly above the surrounding area. The structure sits within a residential community where regular Orthodox liturgies are held.

The structure was built in 1999 by Romanian craftsmen from Maramureș using traditional wooden construction methods without nails or metal fasteners. This building approach reflects ancient building practices that are rarely applied in modern times.

The interior showcases religious paintings in neo-Byzantine style that reflect Orthodox artistic traditions. This building serves as a gathering place where the local Orthodox community celebrates its faith and traditions together.

The building is located within a residential neighborhood and can be difficult to find, so arriving with directions or a navigation app is helpful. Access is typically available during daytime hours, and visitors should keep in mind this is an active place of worship.

This building is one of only two Romanian Orthodox wooden churches built outside Romania, and it replicates the design of the famous Șurdești church in Romania. This uncommon reconstruction of a traditional building style demonstrates how important Romanian craftsmanship is to the Orthodox diaspora.
