Plaza Páez, Cultural property and national monument in El Paraíso district, Caracas, Venezuela
The Plaza Páez contains an equestrian bronze statue designed by sculptor Eloy Palacios, surrounded by fountains and green spaces with numerous trees.
President Cipriano Castro ordered the construction of Plaza Páez to honor José Antonio Páez, with its inauguration taking place on July 24, 1903.
The square underwent modifications in the 1950s with new pavements integrated with vegetation and the addition of a reflecting pool.
The Libertador Municipality initiated restoration works in 2006 to repair the missing elements of the statue and restore the water pumps.
The original nineteenth-century design featured diagonal walkways forming a cross pattern, with the plaza initially named Plaza República.
