Playa Punta Arenas

Playa Punta Arenas is a sandy beach at the southwestern tip of Margarita Island with clear water near the shore and scattered palm trees. The shoreline extends for several kilometers and offers a mix of busy areas with restaurants and quieter stretches farther from the center.

The beach developed around traditional fishing communities who built their wooden huts along the coast in the early decades of the 20th century. These settlements remained the economic backbone of the region and continue to shape the character of the place today.

Fishermen here still work using traditional methods and sell their catches to beachfront restaurants that prepare regional Venezuelan seafood. Their daily work shapes the rhythm of life at the shore and shows how deeply the community is tied to the sea.

Visitors can rent umbrellas and beach chairs from local vendors at various spots, and several restaurants offer beach service with parking, toilets, and showers. It helps to arrive early to secure the best spot and to avoid the hottest hours of the day.

The triangular point shape of the beach creates two distinct sides: a busy southern area with services and a more remote northern section. This division gives visitors the choice between a lively or quieter beach experience depending on what they prefer.
