Old Stordal Church

The octagonal white wooden church features detailed rosemaling paintings covering the walls and ceilings throughout its interior spaces.

Built in 1789 by local priest Ebbe Carsten Tønder, the church incorporated elements from a previous 14th-century structure that stood at the same location.

The interior decoration displays Renaissance artistic elements through numerous biblical scenes and religious figures painted on the walls.

Located 25 kilometers northwest of Valldal along route Rv650, the church now operates as a museum under preservation society management.

The church houses historical artifacts including a 13th-century crucifix and an ancient baptismal font from the original stave church.
