Lauparen, Mountain summit in Møre og Romsdal, Norway
Lauparen is a mountain in the Sunnmøre region of western Norway that rises to about 1400 meters. The summit lies at the boundary of three municipalities and can be reached via marked trails starting from the Grytalisætra area.
The mountain has marked a boundary between the municipalities of Ørskog, Vestnes, and Stordal since their establishment. This border location shaped its significance in the local landscape.
Local mountaineering traditions center around the ascent from Grytalisætra, where generations of climbers have followed marked paths through Trongbotnen.
The best time to climb is from May to September when snow has melted and trails are passable. Sturdy footwear and preparation for changing weather are essential, as the summit is exposed to elements.
The summit is part of a mountain range that extends via ridges to neighboring peaks like Sandfjellet and Storbotnhornet. This connection allows hikers to combine several summits in one outing.
