Valkyrie plass, Heritage square in Majorstuen, Norway
Valkyrie plass presents a triangular configuration bordered by Valkyriegata, Bogstadveien, and Jacob Aall's gate in central Oslo's Majorstuen district.
The square gained prominence after a tunnel collapse in 1928, leading to the construction of a metro station that operated until its closure in 1985.
The square draws its name from valkyries, the female warrior deities of Norse mythology who selected fallen warriors for Valhalla.
The location maintains its transportation function with two active tram lines from the Oslo Tramway system serving the area throughout the day.
A preserved staircase from the former metro station remains accessible, serving as both an emergency exit and maintenance access point.
