Fløien stasjon, Cable railway station on Mount Fløyen, Bergen, Norway
Fløien station is the upper terminal of the funicular railway in Bergen, located at roughly 320 meters above sea level. The building houses a shop for souvenirs and a kiosk with refreshments, along with an outdoor viewing platform at the exit.
The funicular railway opened in 1918 and connects Bergen's center to the Fløyen peak across a 850-meter stretch. The line originally included three intermediate stops along the route.
The name Fløien comes from an old weather vane that once guided ships in Bergen's harbor. Today, visitors can sense the lasting connection between this hilltop and the city's seafaring past.
Plan your visit for early morning or late afternoon when the viewing platform is less crowded and visibility tends to be at its best. Weather in Bergen can change quickly, so wearing windproof clothing is advisable.
From this upper station, marked hiking trails branch out toward several nearby peaks including Skomakerdiket, Brushytten, and Blåmanen. These paths allow visitors to explore the views further and discover more of the surrounding landscape.
