Esteiro Beach

The medium to fine sand beach stretches along the southwestern coast of Póvoa de Varzim, featuring a broad expanse bordered by a recovering grey dune ecosystem.

The beach's foredune area contained multiple coastal windmills during past centuries, with several structures remaining preserved into the present day as regional landmarks.

Portuguese writer Luisa Dacosta established her residence in one of the beach's windmills, where she created numerous literary works inspired by the coastal environment.

Visitors can access the beach through Rua António Santos or Avenida Jardim da Praia, with lifeguard services operating from mid-June through mid-September.

A wooden boardwalk crosses the small tidal creek that gives the beach its name, while protecting the natural dune system and local flora.
