Church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo, Catholic church in Benfica, Portugal.

Church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo is a church in Benfica with a white stone facade, a bell tower completed in 1840, and an unfinished western tower. The interior features a marble main chapel with two tribunes decorated with marble balustrades and a central opening symbolizing the Holy Trinity.

Construction began in August 1750 but was interrupted by the 1755 earthquake, then resumed in March 1780 under master builder João Gomes. The bell tower was completed in 1840, marking a major milestone in the building's development.

The baptismal chapel displays a painting of the Baptism of Jesus created by Portuguese artist Pedro Alexandrino. This artwork reflects the religious artistic tradition found within the church.

The church is accessed through two stone staircases that lead to an eastern courtyard, where visitors can see a cross that was relocated from the previous church building. This layout makes it easy to explore both the entrance area and the grounds.

The marble chapel features two tribunes with marble balustrades connected by a central opening that represents the Holy Trinity. This architectural detail is often overlooked by visitors despite its symbolic importance.
