Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Cabo, Religious sanctuary in Cabo Espichel, Portugal.
The church stands at the western point of Sesimbra's coast, featuring a baroque altarpiece and painted ceilings completed in 1740 by Lourenço da Cunha.
Construction of the current church structure took place between 1701 and 1707 under royal command, following designs by architect João Antunes.
The sanctuary maintains active religious practices through celebrations called círios from Azoia, Palmela, and Sesimbra during March, April, August, and September.
The church opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM with free admission.
Two lodging wings were added between 1715 and 1760 to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims visiting the cape.
