The Hemeroteca Municipal de Lisboa maintains a collection of 18,000 Portuguese and international newspaper titles, alongside microfilms and journalism books.
Established in 1931, the library received legal deposit status, enabling it to collect samples of all newspapers and magazines published in Portugal.
The library preserves Portuguese media history through its extensive collection of periodicals dating from the 18th century to present day.
Located near Laranjeiras subway station, the library opens Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Wednesday hours from 2:00 PM.
The collection contains original editions of publications such as Avante, Diário da Manhã, A Paródia, and Tic-Tac from their first releases in 1931.
