Târgu Mureș Zoo

Târgu Mureș Zoo is a large animal facility spread across extensive grounds with separate areas designed for different animal groups. Each section recreates natural settings where species from various continents live alongside native Romanian wildlife.

The facility was founded in 1964 and developed into the largest animal park in the country. Over the decades it has continuously expanded and improved its spaces.

The facility promotes environmental awareness through educational programs and daily presentations that connect visitors with nature and wildlife conservation efforts.

Walking through the grounds requires some travel time, so comfortable footwear is recommended. There are shaded areas and resting spots throughout the grounds to pause when needed.

The facility houses elephants, giraffes, and gibbons that cannot be seen anywhere else in the country. These particular animals make the visit a rare experience for many people in the region.
