Domogled-Valea Cernei National Park

The park extends over 61,211 hectares across the Cerna Mountains and Godeanu Mountains, featuring limestone formations, gorges, valleys, and thermal springs.

The protected area received national park status in 2000, following conservation initiatives that began in 1990 to safeguard the region's natural resources.

The Cerna Valley contains 80 scattered households maintaining traditional practices, while the nearby Herculane area preserves Roman baths from 106 AD.

The park offers multiple entry points with marked trails, and visitors can find accommodation in Băile Herculane, though the access roads require careful navigation.

The geological formations called Crovuri create circular tablelands throughout the park, resulting from specific mineral dissolution processes in the limestone bedrock.
