The Novgorod Kremlin extends 545 meters in length and 240 meters in width, featuring nine towers and substantial stone walls reaching 15 meters high.
The first fortification reference dates to 1044, with stone walls replacing wooden structures by 1302 under the supervision of local princes and bishops.
The Kremlin houses the Saint Sophia Cathedral, Russia's oldest stone church, constructed in 1052, along with the Gothic-style Chamber of Facets from the 1400s.

Italian architects and German engineers conducted renovations in the early 1500s, creating walls up to 6.5 meters thick to fortify the structure.
