Troparyovo, Underground metro station in Troparyovo-Nikulino District, Moscow, Russia
Troparyovo is a metro station in Moscow, Russia, on the Sokolnicheskaya Line, built as a shallow single-vault structure. The island platform sits between two tracks at a depth of around 40 feet (12 meters) below street level.
The station opened on December 8, 2014 as the western terminus of the Sokolnicheskaya Line. In January 2016, the line was extended further west and the station became an intermediate stop.
The ceiling and support columns of the station are shaped like stylized trees, imitating the canopy of a forest. This design theme runs through the entire platform, making the stop one of the most visually distinctive on the Moscow Metro.
The entrance is at the corner of Leninsky Avenue and Ruzskaya Street, making it easy to find from the surrounding area. Because the station is shallow, the walk down to the platform is short and does not require a long escalator ride.
The metal tree-shaped columns that support the vault also function as light fixtures, so the station has no separate lighting system on the ceiling. The light they cast creates shifting patterns on the vault depending on where you stand.
