Kamenny Ambar, Bronze Age archaeological site in Kartalinsky District, Russia.
Kamenny Ambar is a fortified Bronze Age settlement in southern Trans-Uralia with stone walls and defensive structures carefully built across the Karagayly-Ayat River valley. The layout shows how people organized their living spaces and protected their community.
The settlement began in the Bronze Age and became a center for making metal tools and weapons using advanced techniques for that era. Multiple occupation phases show that people lived and worked here over many generations.
The burial grounds here reveal how people from the Andronovo culture honored their dead and what crafts they mastered. Pottery and metal objects found in the graves tell the story of their daily life and skills.
The site lies about 7 kilometers west of Elizavetopolskoye village and is reachable by local transportation. Visit during warmer months when access to the valley is easier and weather conditions are more comfortable.
Multiple settlement layers reveal different pottery styles and metalworking techniques that changed over time. Each layer tells the story of a different period and shows how people improved their methods of working with metal.
