The Artyomka monument features a bronze barefoot boy wearing a cap, standing on a granite pedestal while holding a small box in his right hand.
The monument was inaugurated in May 2010 in front of the Vasilenko House Museum, marking the 115th anniversary of the writer Ivan Vasilenko's birth.
The statue represents a character from Vasilenko's literary works, including the 1937 story 'The Magic Box', reflecting the strong literary traditions of Taganrog.

The monument survived two acts of vandalism, including being toppled in September 2010 and removed from its pedestal in August 2012, but remains intact today.
