Park, Movie theater in Östermalm, Sweden
Park was a movie theater on Sturegatan 18 with a single screen and 711 seats housed in a streamlined modern building from 1941. The hall was designed for comfortable film viewing, with its layout focused on providing a good experience for audiences.
Architect Björn Hedvall designed the venue, which opened on November 21, 1941, starting with 923 seats. Over the following decades, it remained largely unchanged and kept its original single-screen character.
The venue served as a popular gathering spot for film enthusiasts in the neighborhood, regularly showing international productions across different genres. People came together to experience movies on the big screen and participate in the area's cultural activities.
The venue was located at a central address in Östermalm and was easily accessible for visitors in the area. The building maintained its basic structure over its operational years, with seating refreshed late in the 1990s to improve comfort.
The theater kept its single-screen setup for over 70 years before transforming into an event rental venue in 2014. Its closure in 2017 marked the end of a long era as a traditional neighborhood cinema.
