Laleli Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Fatih, Turkey
The Laleli Mosque features an octagonal layout within a rectangular plan, with two minarets flanking the courtyard entrances and a central dome.
Sultan Mustafa III commissioned the mosque's construction between 1760 and 1763, but a fire in 1783 required substantial reconstruction of the structure.
The mosque includes a mausoleum containing the tombs of Sultan Mustafa III, Sultan Selim III, and several Ottoman princesses, marking its importance in royal history.
The mosque stands on an elevated terrace above a market hall, supported by eight pillars and incorporating shops that generate income for building maintenance.
The interior walls display multicolored marble in red, blue, yellow, and brown, enhanced with medallions crafted from onyx and jasper semi-precious stones.
