Temple of Jupiter, Roman temple in Silifke, Turkey
The Temple of Jupiter measures 40 meters in length and 21 meters in width, featuring 14 Corinthian columns arranged in a rectangular layout.
Built during the second century AD, the temple underwent transformation into a church during the Byzantine period, demonstrating the evolution of religious practices.
The temple stands as a testament to Roman architectural methods, with its remaining column rising 10 meters above the modern city level.
Located west of İnönü Boulevard in Silifke, the archaeological site maintains protective fencing around its perimeter for preservation purposes.
The temple structure remains visible despite the gradual elevation of Silifke's ground level caused by centuries of flooding from the Göksu River.
