Meydan Castle stands 596 meters above sea level, with defensive towers, bastions, cisterns, and a necropolis spread across the hilltop location.
The fortress originated during the Hellenistic period under the Seleucid Empire, in a region historically known as Cilicia Trachaea.
The construction methods display distinctive polygonal stone masonry techniques of Seleucid craftsmen, with later architectural elements incorporating bossage stonework.
The archaeological site lies 28 kilometers from Silifke and 85 kilometers from Mersin, accessible through a 15-kilometer road from Atakent on highway D-400.
A stone staircase carved into the eastern side of the fortress leads down to the river, demonstrating ancient engineering solutions for water access.
