Frederick Barbarossa Memorial, Historical monument near Göksu River in Silifke, Turkey.
The Frederick Barbarossa Memorial stands west of Silifke, featuring a monument base with bilingual inscriptions in German and Turkish overlooking the Göksu River.
Frederick I, Holy Roman Emperor, drowned in the Göksu River on June 10, 1190, during his journey through Anatolia as part of the Third Crusade.
The memorial represents the interaction between European and Turkish heritage, commemorating both Frederick I and the diplomatic relations with Sultan Kılıçarslan II.
The monument site includes informational panels explaining historical events, with access available through a designated parking area near the main road.
The original statue disappeared within a year of its 2012 installation, leaving only the base structure with the preserved 1971 inscriptions.
