Cape San Diego Lighthouse, Lighthouse in Gongliao District, Taiwan
The white cylindrical tower stands 16.5 meters tall on the easternmost point of Taiwan, functioning as a nautical navigation beacon on the Pacific coast.
The Cape San Diego Lighthouse began operations in 1935, initially using a coal-oil incandescent lamp that flashed white and red signals every 28 seconds.
The lighthouse exhibition hall displays maps of Taiwan's lighthouse network, postal stamps featuring lighthouses, and various optical equipment models for maritime education.
Visitors can reach the lighthouse by taking the Taiwan Railway to Ruifang Station and transferring to Bus 856 of the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Golden Fulong Line.
The lighthouse grounds contain three white structures: the lighthouse itself, a radar station with a spherical dome, and a small chapel on grassy slopes.
