Gongliao District, Administrative district in New Taipei City, Taiwan
Gongliao District is an administrative region on the eastern edge of New Taipei City that connects coastal areas with mountain landscapes. The territory includes several villages and spans beaches, hillsides, and river valleys with diverse terrain throughout.
During Japanese colonial rule in the early 1900s, the area functioned as Kōryō Village under Taihoku Prefecture administration. It later developed into the present-day administrative district and underwent gradual transformations in its settlements.
The annual Hohaiyan Rock Festival at Fulong Beach draws musicians and music fans from across Taiwan every July. This event shapes the cultural life of the area and turns the coastal region into a meeting place for artists and audiences.
The district connects through two railway stations: Gongliao and Fulong on the Taiwan Railways Administration Yilan Line. These stations make it easy for visitors to reach different parts of the area and explore the region.
Cape Santiago at the easternmost point of Taiwan's main island holds a lighthouse that guides ships through Pacific waters. This distinctive location offers visitors a view of one of the island's most important navigation points.
