ChungYuet World Center, Modern skyscraper in Taoyuan, Taiwan.
ChungYuet World Center is a mixed-use skyscraper in Taoyuan, Taiwan, standing 150 meters tall with 32 floors above ground. The tower also has 4 basement levels and houses both residential units and commercial spaces.
Work on the tower began in 2009 and finished in 2012, during a period when Taoyuan was expanding its city center at a fast pace. It was among the first tall buildings to visibly reshape that part of the city.
The name ChungYuet combines Chinese characters that roughly translate to "loyalty" and "moon," a naming style common in Taiwanese real estate that gives buildings a symbolic identity. Passersby can read this name on the facade, where it appears alongside commercial signage at street level.
The tower stands in central Taoyuan and is easy to reach on foot or by public transport from the main transit points in the area. Street-level shops and services make the surrounding block convenient to explore.
Although the building is the tallest in Taoyuan, the nearby Taoyuan International Airport, one of the busiest in Asia, strictly limits how tall new structures in the region can be. This makes the tower unusually noticeable in a skyline where most buildings stay low.
