Republic of Chocolate, Chocolate museum and factory in Bade District, Taiwan
Republic of Chocolate is a museum and working factory housed in a building shaped like a split chocolate bar rising 20 stories. Inside, visitors find production facilities, exhibition spaces explaining manufacturing processes, and a restaurant serving chocolate-based dishes.
The company behind it built expertise through more than 30 years of candy production before opening this facility in 2012. It became the first museum in Asia focused entirely on chocolate manufacturing.
The facility showcases how chocolate is made from raw materials to finished products through interactive demonstrations. Visitors can observe the craftsmanship involved in transforming simple ingredients into treats that bring people together.
Plan your visit for the morning when the factory machinery is running and production is active. Allow several hours to explore the exhibits, participate in tastings, and have a meal at the restaurant.
Visitors can make their own chocolate and learn techniques used in different product styles. The opportunity to taste dishes where chocolate plays a surprising role in savory or unconventional preparations is memorable.
