Jhuliao Water-pumping Station

Jhuliao Water-pumping Station is a water supply facility in Dashu District featuring a striking red brick building with arched facades and green window frames beside Kaoping River. Inside, large wooden structures house modern pumping machinery that continues to operate today.

The station was built in 1913 during Japanese colonial rule and marked the start of systematic water infrastructure development in the Kaohsiung region. This project was part of broader modernization efforts the island underwent during that era.

The building shows European architectural elements from the early 20th century, blending Japanese colonial influences with Western design choices visible in its arched facades and green window frames.
