Former Japanese Navy Fongshan Communication Center

The Former Japanese Navy Fongshan Communication Center is a military radio facility in Fongshan District with reinforced concrete buildings arranged around a circular road. The layout centers on a main structure with multiple surrounding buildings forming an organized complex.

Built in 1919 as the first Japanese naval radio station in Taiwan, the facility served to monitor and transmit military signals. During World War II, it played a key role in tracking Allied operations in the region.

The name reflects its origins as a Japanese military installation from Taiwan's colonial period. Walking through the complex, visitors notice how the layout and structures still carry the marks of that era.

The site is open to visitors and easily accessible via Fongshan Junior High School metro station. Parking facilities are available on the grounds for those arriving by car.

The buildings retain original wooden floors and steel doors from 1919, offering a direct look at early 20th-century military construction methods. These original elements allow visitors to observe the durability and craftsmanship choices of that era.
